What are LEGO challenge cards?

LEGO challenge cards are short prompts that tell a kid what to build. Each Fast Brix! card gives you three silly words — usually a character, an action, and a thing — and then you have five minutes to build whatever those words mean to you. There's no "right" build. The wilder the better.

How to use the printable deck

  1. Print. Standard letter or A4 paper. 6 cards per page, 4 pages.
  2. Cut. Snip along the dotted lines. Card stock lasts longer, regular paper works fine.
  3. Shuffle. Toss them in a jar, a hat, or a spare LEGO bin.
  4. Draw. Pick one. Set a 5-minute timer.
  5. Build. Whatever the words mean to you.
  6. Share & laugh. Show your build. Explain your choices. Argue about whose T-Rex is juggling better.

Why screen-free LEGO prompts work

Blank-page paralysis is real, even with a bucket of bricks beside you. A prompt like "grumpy volcano burping confetti" solves that instantly — kids stop asking what to build and start asking how. That flip is where the fun lives.

The printable deck is perfect for road trips, classroom centers, rainy afternoons, and grandparent visits when the tablet needs a rest. When you're ready to add a timer, sounds, and a fresh deck every round, Fast Brix! is free on iOS and Android.

Best ages for LEGO challenge cards

These prompts are written for kids ages 6–12. Younger kids can play with a grown-up reading the words. Older kids and adults usually get more competitive than the children — that's a feature.
